Thailand has been adjusting its disease prevention measures for entry into the Kingdom for Test & Go travelers (by land, water and air), Sandbox Quarantine (AQ, OQ, SQ), and vehicle controllers who do not have a base of operations in Thailand since November 2021. The entry measures have been further simplified since April 1, 2022 to attract tourists before transitioning COVID-19 to an endemic disease.

According to a statement made by Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, the spokesperson for the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on March 18, 2022, the CCSA has approved a relaxation of entry requirements for Test & Go, Sandbox Quarantine, and non-resident vehicle drivers. The changes include: Elimination of the pre-departure COVID-19 test requirement. Reduction of the Sandbox Quarantine and Alternative Quarantine periods to 5 days. These changes are effective immediately.

This new measure simplifies travel to Thailand. However, travelers entering under the Test & Go and Sandbox programs will still need to take an RT-PCR test upon arrival in Thailand. They must also stay at a hotel partnered with a designated hospital (SHA Extra Plus) and perform a self-administered ATK test again on the 5th day. If the test is positive, they will need to receive treatment. If negative, they can continue their travels within Thailand or depart for their home country.

At present, international travelers must present a RT-PCR Test health certificate indicating a negative result. within 72 hours before traveling from the country of origin To ensure that travelers are not infected with COVID-19, the sandbox period is currently 7 days, and the optional quarantine period for unvaccinated travelers is 10 days.

Ministry of Tourism There is a policy pushing to unlock all entry conditions to be the same as before the COVID-19 crisis. By presenting the CCSA to cancel registration in the Thailand Pass system, including entering the country in various forms, both Test & Go and Sandbox, from 1 June 2022 onwards.
